Research Statement

My potential thesis:
1. The American Revolution affected the French Revolution of 1789-1799 by angering the British for intervening in the American Revolution and caused them to attack France in revenge.
2. The American Revolution affected the French Revolution of 1789-1799 by alliancing with the Americans and not responding when the French were in need of support.
___I have no idea if they're usable or what, but I might keep looking for new thesis'.

QQC #2

By: Andrea
Quote:
___Forty years ago, the solitary pedestrian who ventured into the unknown regions of La Salpetriere and went up along the Boulevard as far as the Barriere d'Italie, reached certain points where it might be said that Paris disappeared. It was an inhabited place where there was nobody, it was a desert place where there was somebody; it was a boulevard of te great city, a street of Paris, wilder, at night, than a forest, and gloomier, by day, than a graveyard.
Question:
___Was was the author infering to? Did this happen during the time of the Napoleonic wars that left the city abandoned or why was it abandoned? Economic crisis?
Comment:
___The book was describing the location were Jean Valjean and Cosette would begin to live in, for a temporaty period of time. Victor Hugo described both the city of Paris as well as the abandoned house that would serve Jean Valjean for hidding/living. How would he make of his living if he was hiding and only going out during the night? There was not much in Paris, only a few pedestrians lived there but there was not much to explore.

The Great Race

We walked into class wide eyed and dazzled. Our classroom had been turned into a carnival like game show. We took our seats in our respective teams, "FRANCE" was printed on our banner. Our groups focus was on the French Revolution. "Team leaders pick up your laptops and turn them on," Miss Guerrero said. As Ervin picked up the computer, Andrea and I realized that we were missing a team member. But who was it? As Ervin returned to his seat, Adriel our lost team member arrived out of breath with subway in his hands. "Anybody want some?" he asked and immediately distracted everyone but Ervin. "Let the games begin!" Miss Guerrero shouted, but no one heard her. They were all focused on our now very effective "lost late destraction group member" Adriel. "We're done! We used History Study Center, History Resource Center, San Diego Public Librabry and Miss G's DP lead me to all of it! We learned about France and Cuba." Ervin said and we went to claim our prize. FREE JONAS BROTHER TICKETS!!!!! Then we lived happily ever after.... except Adriel because he didn't want to go to the concert. THE END!!!

Potential Research Question

By: Andrea
Plot Overview:
_____In Les Miserables by Victor Hugo, I have read so far that Javert, the policeman, wanted to renounce from his job because he misjudged Monsieur Madeleine into believing that his personality was a cover-up for his crime and that he really was Jean Valjean. Monsieur Madeleine did not want Javert to renounce for an assumption of his but Javert was convinced that his misjudgment should not be a matter to take lightly and he would like to be fired. Also, in another chapter after, it is explained what happened to Jean Valjean after he robbed from Petit Gervais and what became of him during that time.
Revolution Background:
_____One of the French revolutions lasted from 1789-1799. The reasons for the revolution was because France's monarchy had too many privileges while the lower class had inalienable rights which was noted by the lower class as they became enlightened. Also, famine spread, Louis XV fought many wars as well as Louis XVI supported the colonists' during the American Revolution leaving France to owe 2 million francs worth of debt. The revolution did not go smoothly because the monarchy resisted the peasants complains and did any if little changes at all to the ruling system.
Possible Research Question:
_____A possible research question could be "Did the French Revolution help create other revolutions?" or, "How much damage was caused in all of Europe to the cause of just the French Revolution?"
